Petito, who was traveling across the county, was seen arguing with her boyfriend, body camera video of the Moab Police Department shows. Officers stopped the van on August 12 after it reached excessive speed and struck a sidewalk near the entrance to Arches National Park.
Brian Laundrie, Petito’s boyfriend, is now also gone – the family haven’t seen him since Tuesday. A search of the Carlton Reservation in Sarasota County, Florida ended Sunday afternoon, North Port police said. Laundrie was alone when he returned to Florida on September 1. He is a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance, authorities say.
Anyone with information, especially anyone who was camping at Spread Creek between August 27 and August 30 and saw Petito or Laundrie or their vehicle, are encouraged to contact the Denver FBI.
The car is a white 2021 Ford Transit minivan with the Florida license plate QFTG03 and has a number of stickers on the back, according to the FBI.
The Denver FBI, National Park Service, US Forest Service, Teton County Sheriff’s Office, Teton County Search and Rescue, and Jackson Police Department collaborated in the investigation.
