German submarine exports to Turkey threaten Greece
Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias reiterated Greece’s security concerns over Germany’s refusal to ban submarine exports to Turkey, during a meeting with Social Party MP german democrat Nils schmid Wednesday.
Dendias said Greece was “disappointed to say the least” by the SPD’s vote against a bill banning the export of submarines to Turkey, adding that delivering submarines to a country that continues to destabilize the region would alter the balance of power to the detriment of states. who seek stability and respect international rules.
As for Greece, the Turkish threat constitutes “an existential challenge”, Dendias said according to diplomatic sources, while noting that the European Union should be up to the circumstances.
