Severe weather possible Saturday, Sunday more pleasant

Severe weather is expected to affect Minnesota this weekend, but more pleasant conditions are also likely.

KSTP meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas said storms are expected to move into western Minnesota near Alexandria and farther north by 9 a.m. Saturday before moving into the metro area after 11 p.m. hours.

Yuhas says some of the storms could bring damaging winds, hail, heavy rain and even tornadoes. The most likely time for severe thunderstorms in the subway is between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The maximum on Saturday is expected to reach 88 degrees and the minimum to drop to 66.

The good news is that Sunday looks much nicer, with lower humidity and high temperatures in the 80s.

Looking ahead to next week, Yuhas says Sunday’s weather will remain at least early in the week. A few scattered thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday.
